Bad Weather Bad

Filed under: Weather — Hayden @ 5:59 pm

Take a look (if you dare) at the effects this Chicago weather has had on my once beautiful hand. At least, the lows are expected to get back into double digits at the start of next week.

(BTW, I usually do wear gloves outside, unless of course, I’m trying to gross someone out.)

  1. That’s nothing compared to how my wrist looked in fifth grade, is it, mom, Lisa, and Steph? And Hayden, have you put lotion on today like I tell you to do? By the way, my face is getting redder and redder from the cold, wind, and dry air. Why isn’t winter over yet?

  2. I finally broke down and got into the lotion once I noticed that the scabs (which there seem to be a dozen more since I took this picture yesterday!) were opening up and bleeding. Okay, I’m going to go faint now.

  3. Hayden, you are way past needing lotion you need bag balm http://www.bagbalm.com/ People use it on their cows udders, it’s sold at Walgreen’s and costs next to nothing but once soars develop lotion will only aggravate the wound. Apryl I am sad to say that winter shall continue for a while but alas Memphis is not much better. On the brite side I will be coming for a visit rather soon, details to follow!

  7. Aquaphor Ointment or Aquaphor Healing Ointment (a little more expensive & not that much better) is great great stuff for this kind of thing. I’ll never be without it again. Down side is that it’s a bit greasy. My doctor recommended it, says she uses it on her lips all winter. Also, I recently got a sample of this product and highly recommend it: http://www.keys-soap.com/metacare.html
This company make fantastic products, particularly for skin that’s sensitive to chemicals.

  8. Judy, thanks for the info. That stuff looks good, though I’m a little concerned about the greasy part since that was one the reasons I put off using lotion. I have been using Apryl’s lotion and it has been working. The hands are healing yet dry.

    Thanks for the concern Dad.
